"PERSONAL TESTIMONY" See St John Paul II thoughts on the sick: In his book 'Rise Let Us Be on Our Way' (2004), Pope John Paul II gave his very personal testimony about visiting the sick during his pastoral visits in Krakow, Poland: “I have always been very conscious of the fundamental importance of what the suffering contribute to the life of the Church. I remember that at the beginning the sick intimidated me. I needed a lot of courage to stand before a sick person and enter, so to speak, into his physical and spiritual pain, not to betray discomfort, and to show at least a little loving compassion.
Only later did I begin to grasp the profound meaning of the mystery of human suffering. In a sense, the sick provoke mercy. Through their prayers and sacrifices, they not only ask for mercy but create a "space for mercy," or better, open up spaces for mercy. By their illness and suffering they call forth acts of mercy and create the possibility for accomplishing them. I would entrust the needs of the Church to the prayers of the sick, and the results were always positive.”
+++ In our Diocese we have a special Designation. We are one of five places to visit for the Jubilee Year.
Make a Pious Visit - The faithful can obtain the Jubilee Indulgence if, individually or in a group, they devoutly visit any Jubilee site and there, for a suitable period of time, engage in Eucharistic adoration and meditation (the Eucharist does not need to be exposed in the monstrance or ciborium for adoration), concluding with the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form (Nicene Creed or Apostles Creed), and invocations to Mary, the Mother of God. The Jubilee Year 2025 Prayer may conclude the whole pious exercise.
Churches and Shrines
Jubilee years also are a time when Catholics visit designated churches and shrines, recite special prayers, go to confession, and receive Communion to be provided an indulgence--which is a remission of the temporal punishment due for one’s sins.
Bishop David P. Talley has designated the following sites as places for pious visits in our Diocese. We are on the list of 5 places; Jubilee Sites in our Diocese.
If you are not in our Diocese, your home town parish should have some places.

Jubilee Prayer is as Follows:
+++ Jubilee Prayer:
Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us, the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth. To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen
+++ Let us have a HOPEFUL Year and receive the Graces from this Jubilee Year. Let us remember, The Blessed Mother said and St Faustina writes: Humility, humility, and ever humility, as we can do nothing of ourselves; all is purely and simply God's grace. (Diary 55)
Other Things to do: 1. Jesus says: (By meditating on My Passion, your soul acquires a distinct beauty). (Diary 1657) So let’s meditate on His Passion.2. Jesus said to St Faustina about her Diary: My daughter, be diligent in writing down every sentence I tell you concerning My mercy, because this is meant for a great number of souls who will profit from it. (Diary 1142)
***You and I, are some of these souls. So let’s read her Diary again. So when reading the Diary, read it like He is talking to you, because the Diary is for our benefit. But remember, we are not St Faustina, she had special graces, but we can grow in holiness to the degree of graces that God allows us. He is the guide for our souls.Jesus told St Faustina: “My kingdom on earth is My life in the human soul. Write, My secretary, that I Myself am the spiritual guide of souls- and I guide them indirectly through the priest, and lead each one to sanctity by a road known to Me alone.” (Diary 1784).
Let us foster TRUST in our lives. Jesus I trust in You. Trust is the Key to Divine Mercy. Jesus says to St Faustina: “There are few souls who contemplate My Passion with true feeling; I give great graces to souls who meditate devoutly on My Passion”). (Diary 737)St. Faustina records our Lord's revelation: “The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is — trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive. Souls that trust boundlessly are a great comfort to Me, because I pour all the treasures of My graces into them. I rejoice that they ask for much, because it is My desire to give much, very much. On the other hand, I am sad when souls ask for little, when they narrow their hearts.” ( Diary 1578)
